"Tanis Gonzaga is an artist through and through...What I enjoy most about working with Tanis is that he cares as much about the artistic success of the overall project as he does about his own success. He brings out the best in other performers simply by holding himself to a high standard of professionalism and excellence

Biography

Tanis Gonzaga is a professional singer, actor, and music educator based out of the pacific northwest. For the 2026 season, Tanis performed with several new play workshops and will debut this summer with the Leavenworth Summer Theater for a three show residency, where he will appear in the company's 30th anniversary production of The Sound of Music (Captain Von Trapp), Anything Goes (Purser), and Bright Star (Jimmy Ray).

Prior to this season, Tanis boasts over a decade of performance and teaching experience, with past highlight performances including work with Portland's former Mock's Crest Opera (Iolanthe, Ruddigore, Pirates of Penzance, Yeomen of the Guard, HMS Pinafore), The University of Portland Dept. Theater (Peter in Jesus Christ Superstar, Shrdlu in Adding Machine). In addition to fully staged productions, Tanis has performed in concert and recital collaborations with entities such as The University of Portland Singers and Orchestra, The Francis Street Singers, The Columbia River Catholic Choirs, The Columbia Gorge Orchestra Association, The Grotto PDX, and Opera Cecilia. Tanis made his European performance debut at the age of 21 as an emerging artist with the program Music in the Marche in Mondavio, Italy. Most recently, Tanis was honored to make his debut with Columbia Theater Arts Foundation in SW Washington as Uncle Max in The Sound Of Music.

As a devoted music educator, Tanis has directed liturgical music in the past with Catholic Churches in Oregon, Washington, and Minnesota. Tanis currently operates by day as the co-founder and CFO of Opera Cecilia LLC, a music education and media company that boasts a monetized Youtube Channel, and a thriving voice studio offering in-person private lessons, annual recital opportunities, workshops, and an annual benefit gala concert with local professional performers. Under the umbrella of this company, Tanis also manages Taylor's own original music using the stage name "CECILIA" to popular streaming sites. Her debut Pop/Country EP "EMPIRE" was released in collaboration with producer Tiger X and recorded at Portland's Black Diamond Studios. Taylor's debut album "Expose", a folk, ethereal pop, and country inspired album about her coming of age from a teenager to a young adult, is scheduled to be dropped to streaming sites in 2025-26.

Tanis currently shares a home in southwest Washington with his lovely wife, beautiful foster son, and beloved fur and feather babies. When he is not working, he is usually spending ample time with loved ones, hiking in the wilderness, or nurturing his suburban homestead.
